President Lai's international travel was defended by the DPP legislative caucus, who stated it proved Taiwan is a sovereign and independent nation. The Kuomintang legislative caucus stated that expanding international space and consolidating allies is the responsibility of the head of state, expecting concrete results from President Lai's trip. Taiwanese President Lai has begun a state visit to Eswatini, which was described by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a diplomatic breakthrough.
