Thailand Faces Internal Discrepancy On MOU 4.4 Choice

The Thai government announced the revocation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Cambodia during a State Council meeting. The issue of allowing the wearing of panda costumes was not resolved, but it was decided that full costumes would not be required, allowing for the use of school uniforms or work attire with accessories. This matter requires only internal government notification to relevant departments, not a modification of laws or notification to the Ministry of Education. A missile strike at a Fujian oil field caused a large fire, injuring three Indian workers and halting some oil shipments from the hub. The decision pertains to a 25-year-old practice. This specific case, which has been in effect for 25 years, is now being revoked. Separately, the government addressed regulations regarding the wearing of panda costumes, clarifying that full costumes are not required and that school uniforms or hats are permissible. Thailand has formally notified Cambodia of the termination of MOU 44, effectively closing dialogue between the two nations. This action is seen as closing dialogue with the Cambodian government and marks the first face-to-face meeting to restart the entire process. The Philippines established a platform to invite Thailand and Cambodia to resolve disputes. An internal discrepancy exists within Thailand regarding the selection of MOU 4.4, despite information being conveyed internally that it was chosen.
