Netanyahu Requests Cancellation Of Court Testimony
President Isaac Herzog announced he will not address the pardon petition regarding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's corruption trial yet. Netanyahu has faced charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust for approximately six years. Reports suggest Herzog may instead attempt to initiate mediation to reach an agreement between the involved parties. The news follows Netanyahu's 2025 request for a presidential pardon. A pardon is typically granted only after a trial concludes, which is not the case as the trial is still ongoing. The request was made by an individual whose trial is currently underway. Herzog determined that the conditions for granting a pardon were not met, as the trial has not yet concluded. According to Israeli law, a pardon can generally only be granted if a trial reaches its conclusion.
