Toxic Debris Dumped At DC Golf Course
A fundraising document obtained by the Washington Post includes renderings for a redesigned East Potomac golf course. The proposed plans would remove existing bike paths, open spaces, the recently renovated mini golf course, and the East Potomac Tennis Center. The documents also feature the president's proposed National Garden of American Heroes in West Potomac Park. This project would include an outdoor sculpture garden with 250 life-size statues of historically Americans. Fundraising of at least $50 million is being sought to convert the current course into a new Washington National Golf Course. The Interior Department stated that affordability remains a focus for any potential changes to the course. Currently, the course continues to operate while the transition is pending. Excavated dirt from the White House East Wing is currently visible on the site.
