Congress Leads UDF To Victory In Kerala
Vote counting is underway at 40,771 polling stations for 140 seats in Kerala. The Congress party secured 26 seats in the recent elections, while the Marxist Communist Party won 22 seats. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) also won 22 seats and the Communist Party of India (CPI) won 9 seats. Sasi of the Marxist Communist Party was declared victorious in Alathur. Results in Puducherry indicate that the AINRC is likely to retain power. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) secured a dominant victory in the Kerala state elections. In Puducherry, the National Democratic Alliance is expected to form the next government after securing a majority of 18 seats in the 30-member house. Actor-turned-politician Vijay led the Amaragha Vetri Karagam party during the election cycle. In Assam, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) won six seats and the Bodo Land People's Front secured eight seats.
