Romanian Politicians Switch Party Affiliations
Six former POT members announced they will not vote in the upcoming no-confidence motion against the Bolojan government. These lawmakers, who previously signed the motion filed by AUR and PSD, have left the party led by Ana Maria Gavrilă to establish the United Party. Deputy Andrei Cilag made the announcement regarding the formation of their new parliamentary group. The move occurs as final negotiations proceed ahead of the vote that will decide the government's fate. Several elected officials in Romania have migrated between political parties. Unaffiliated deputy Rodica Plopianu welcomed members from the PSD party. PSD deputy Alexandru Moiseev, originally elected on the SOS Romania lists, has joined the PNL. PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu and Prime Minister Lilie Bolojan also joined Parliament following these shifts. Bolojan did not provide statements to journalists regarding the move.
