Israeli Court Extends Detention Of Two Activists
The Ashkelon Magistrates Court in southern Israel has extended the detention of Spanish Palestinian activist Saif Abou Sheik and Brazilian national Tiago Ávila for two days. An Israeli judge in Ashkelon extended the detention of individuals from a flotilla arrested off the coast of Greece for two days. The detainees will face interrogation by Israeli internal intelligence services regarding suspected affiliations with terrorist organizations. Tel Aviv officials allege one individual belongs to a group linked to Hamas. Spain has issued a new denunciation regarding the arrest of its national, Eni. The Ashkelon court extended the custody of a Spanish leader and a Brazilian leader by 48 hours. The decision follows ongoing tensions between Israel and the governments in Madrid and Brasilia. The court's action was announced on Sunday morning.
