US-Iran Peace Talks Continue in Pakistan
An Iranian negotiator has traveled to Islamabad and Russia to present a peace plan. The failure follows previous attempts to establish diplomatic channels. Diplomatic negotiations regarding Iran have collapsed. It remains uncertain if talks will resume in Pakistan or another location. Negotiations between Washington and Tehran scheduled for this weekend in Pakistan collapsed before commencement. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqi left Islamabad before the U.S. delegation arrived, leading President Donald Trump to cancel the trip. Araqi questioned U.S. sincerity regarding a diplomatic solution following a meeting with Pakistan's prime minister. Trump stated to Axios that the breakdown does not necessarily mean a return to fighting. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi is scheduled to return to Pakistan on Sunday to present a framework for resuming negotiations with the U.S.
