British Influence In Burma Post-WWII Detailed
Following World War II, Britain sought to maintain its influence in Burma. In a 1947 treaty, Britain agreed to grant Burma independence. Earlier, an association was formed, not yet a union, referred to as the KNU, which was established according to a treaty with Britain.
