Romania Proposes School Attendance Grants
Prime Minister Lilië Boloja announced the government is preparing an emergency decree to accelerate the disbursement of European funds from the PNRR. Premier Ilie Bolojan announced ordinances to allow the finance minister to make payments directly to beneficiaries. These ordinances were presented for first reading last week. The move follows an announcement by EU Funds Minister Dragoš Puzlaru that 458 million euros were lost from the third payment request. Approximately 350 million euros have been recovered so far. The ministry is expected to report on the status of fund attraction today. Promoters are proposing a measure to combat school dropout rates in Romania. The plan involves allocating 100 lei to all children aged 3 to 18. Additionally, students could receive a presence grant of at least 250 lei.
