Portugal Government Rejects Opposition Demands

Radio Observador Lisbon 11d11d Impact 5
Portuguese Prime Minister Luiz Montenegro has denied any government division regarding negotiations on changes to the labor code. He stated that the executive has conceded on several sensitive points during these discussions. The core issues relate to term contracts and the regime. The Secretary-General of CGT-P, Tiago Oliveira, stated that for the general strike in early June to be called off, the government must withdraw the labor package. Oliveira reiterated that if the labor package falls, the general strike will also fall.
