Mali Leader Asserts Control Amid China, France Evacuation Calls
There is concern in Bamako about the government and the Mali army. It is foreseen that these blockades will not be fully effective but will create many problems. The country's electricity supply is dependent on fuel, and the situation is expected to lead to more troubled days ahead. The former ambassador provided analysis on the situation. A political solution is considered the only viable path forward for Mali, rather than a military one. This situation is impacting the availability of essential resources. Bhubakar Haidara stated that the only solution for the million problems in Mali is a political, not military, solution. This follows the death of former Defense Minister Sadio Camara during an offensive by jihadist and separatist forces. Colonel Assimi Goïta, head of Mali's military government, is set to take on the additional role of Defense Minister.
