Portuguese Communist Leader Faces Protests In Parliament
Workers in Portugal are protesting and refusing policies from the current government. The protests are driven by the pressure of the workers, and the GT (likely a union or workers' group) will not yield to other pressures. Workers have announced a new general strike scheduled for June 3. This follows a previous general strike on December 11, where over 190,000 signatures were delivered to the Prime Minister. Tiago Oliveira is calling for participation in the upcoming strike. The broadcast stated that there is no partisan pressure or any other kind of pressure on the GT. Communist parliamentary leader Paula Santos was met with protests upon entering the legislative chamber following a ceremony. During the event, Roselane Stefanchuk called for the maintenance of sanctions against Russia. Stefanchuk also requested that Portugal support Ukraine's entry into the European Union.
