Michigan Attorney General Calls For Prison Reform
Attorney General Dana Nessel is calling for new legislation following a sexual offense case involving a former employee at the Huron Valley Correctional Facility. Michigan law currently prohibits sexual contact between inmates and officers but lacks specific sentencing degrees for severe offenses. The facility is also facing ongoing lawsuits regarding mold and allegations of neglect. Nessel stated she hopes the case encourages better inmate protection laws.
