Protester Closes Lanes On South Capitol Street Bridge

developing WTOP Washington DC Washington DC 11d11d Impact 3
A protest on one of the arches has lasted for more than two hours in Washington DC. DC Police have closed South Capitol Street in both directions between Nationals Park and Suitland Park. DC Fire and EMS are standing by at the scene. The closure is causing delays on the nearby Southeast Southwest Freeway. Police report the individual involved is the same person who spent 28 hours on the bridge 40 years ago following the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling. Police activity has closed the two right northbound lanes of the Frederick Douglass Bridge on South Capitol Street in Washington D.C. The closures are between Suitland Parkway and R Street Southeast.
