Switzerland Refuses To Receive Nagorno-Karabakh Representatives
The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (EDA) stated that Nagorno-Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan under international law. The EDA confirmed that the President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Parliament was not received by representatives of the Foreign Department during a visit to Bern. National Councilor Stefan Müller-Altermatt also addressed the department regarding the matter. Switzerland has publicly called for refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh to have the right to return to their home regions. Swiss authorities recognize the authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan as the sole points of contact. The statement follows discussions regarding the text agreed upon by Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington last August. The decision follows a period of increased maritime activity and ship sinkings since September. The source noted that since April 11, there have been eight attacks recorded.
