May Day Marches Held In Neiva
Approximately 5,000 people are expected to participate in May Day marches in Neiva and surrounding areas. The demonstrations include teachers from Neiva, Garzón, Pitalito, and La Plata. Organizers stated the marches are expected to proceed in calm and tranquility. The event is not government-led, according to the report. Labor unions, teachers, students from the Universidad Sur colombiana, and various social organizations participated in May Day commemorations in Neiva. The march proceeded through the city's main roads. The Unified Command Post reported the day is proceeding normally without public order disturbances. Approximately 150 Metropolitan Police officers were deployed to ensure security for the marchers.
