Trump Nominates Casey Means For Surgeon General
President Trump announced the nomination of Sapphire to replace Casey Means for a surgeon role. President Trump has named a wellness influencer and herbal supplement doctor as the new nominee for Surgeon General. The nominee, Sapphire, hosts a podcast called Wellness Unmasked. She replaces Dr. Means does not currently hold an active medical license. During a February confirmation hearing, she faced opposition from several senators, including some Republicans, regarding her views on vaccines. She stated that she believes vaccines save lives but did not explicitly encourage parents to vaccinate children against measles or the flu. Mannstorfer noted her influence on the 'Make America Healthy Again' (MAHA) movement, particularly among suburban mothers. Her position on vaccines is described as murky, as she supports 'medical freedom' but does not believe vaccines cause autism.
