CGT Secretary General Demands Fuel Price Freeze
Sophie Binez, Secretary General of the CGT, is calling for demonstrations on May 1. The protests focus on the rising cost of living and demands for wage increases. Binez stated that workers are forced to choose between food and fuel. She called for the government to increase wages, freeze fuel prices, and tax corporate profits. CGT Secretary General Sophie Binet sent a letter to the French Prime Minister today requesting a freeze on fuel prices. The letter also calls for the restoration of wage indexation to prices. Binet is expected to lead a protest march starting at Place de la République in Paris. The demonstration is part of May Day celebrations.
