Ex-Ministers Face Corruption Charges In Colombia
Arrest warrants were confirmed for Guaid Mansour and Karen Amandri, the latter of whom was re-elected on March 8. Magistrates denied Amandri's request for house arrest. Additionally, the Superior Court of Bogotá confirmed a precautionary measure against a former Minister of the Interior. The case involves specific charges and a request for detention. The prosecutor's office formally accused former ministers of President Gustavo Petro before the first instance chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice. The Supreme Court will now set a new date for the preparatory trial hearing. Former ministers Ricardo Bonilla and Luis Fernando Velasco face corruption accusations before the Supreme Court of Justice. The prosecution alleges the two former officials participated in a scheme to misdirect public funds from the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management.
