Neither his family nor his lawyer were notified of the sudden decline in his condition. The deceased had previously been transferred from a prison in Tobolsk. He had been serving a sentence of 13 to 17 years for allegedly passing data to Ukrainian intelligence. Reports indicated he suffered from severe health issues, including brain cysts, headaches, and breathing difficulties, which were visible during court proceedings. The deceased and his wife, Tatiana, worked at a defense enterprise in Kursk.
