Australia Funds Counter-Terrorism Online Centre
An inquiry has issued 14 recommendations aimed at strengthening Australia's counter-terrorism capabilities. An interim report has issued 14 recommendations to address security concerns for the Australian Jewish community. Proposed measures include strengthening policing around high-risk Jewish events and reviewing counter-terrorism teams. Public hearings for the Royal Commission are scheduled to begin this week. The report follows concerns regarding safety and unease within the community. The centre will be led by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO). Its mission is to identify and deter online extremism, specifically targeting radicalization on gaming platforms and chat rooms. Infrastructure Minister Catherine King stated her team will work to reorient existing projects to create a reliable network for this purpose.
