Wildwood Implements Boardwalk Curfew And Backpack Ban
Wildwood officials will close the boardwalk overnight this summer starting May 13th to curb unruly teenage crowds. The closure will occur between 1am and 5am. Authorities are also implementing a 10pm curfew for minors and a backpack ban. These measures follow a state of emergency declared two years ago after a mob caused havoc during Memorial Day weekend. Local business owners expressed concern regarding potential revenue losses. Wildwood town commissioners voted last week to implement new restrictions for the upcoming summer season. Additionally, the town is instituting a total ban on backpacks. The deputy mayor of Wildwood confirmed these measures are being taken to manage the area.
