Two Suspects Detained After Vehicle Hijacking Pursuit

Illinois State Police apprehended two suspects following a vehicle pursuit on the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway near 75th Street. The pursuit began around 7:30 AM after officers spotted a vehicle wanted for aggravated vehicular hijacking out of Cicero. The chase ended in a crash near 130th Street. One individual in the other vehicle involved in the crash was hospitalized. Police officers attempted an investigatory traffic stop at 44th and Mozart involving a vehicle carrying two males and one female. The driver fled, and occupants fired multiple shots at the police vehicle during the pursuit. Three suspects were taken into custody and two guns were recovered at the scene. One officer returned fire during the incident, but no one was hit.
