Student Charged After Retrieving Officer's Weapon In School
A police officer's weapon went missing Monday afternoon at Forest View Academy. The officer reportedly removed the gun from his holster to use the bathroom and discovered it was gone upon his return. Specialized schools including the Academy at Forest View, International Newcomer Academy, Vanguard School, Life, and the Young Adult Program are not in session today. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon just before student dismissal. A prosecutor stated that Haramillo was seen on surveillance video entering a bathroom at Forest View Educational Center, where an officer had left a loaded weapon. He was then seen leaving with a bulge in his back pocket. A juvenile, also charged, allegedly first spotted the weapon and informed Sanchez Haramillo, who is accused of retrieving it approximately 25 minutes after it was left.
