Redmond police have launched a trial period for new speed cameras located in front of Redmond Middle School, Redmond High School, and Rose Hill Middle School. The cameras are intended to warn drivers of speed limits. The trial period began on Tuesday. City officials in Redmond announced that new speed cameras are currently in a warning-only phase. A speed survey revealed that over 20% of drivers exceed the limit by at least six miles per hour near Redmond Middle and High School. Additionally, more than 50% of drivers speed in front of Rose Hill. Automated citations, with fines ranging from $110 to $250, will begin being mailed to drivers starting June 12th. New speed cameras in Redmond will begin issuing citations on June 12th. Fines for violations will range from $110 to $250.
