Riverside County Rescuer Reports 300 Ducks Sold on Marketplace
Approximately 300 ducks surrendered to Riverside County Animal Services were allegedly sold for food on Facebook Marketplace shortly after being processed. Rescuers claim the animals were intended for a sanctuary but were instead diverted to the livestock business. The county stated the quick action was necessary due to an inability to provide long-term care for the large number of birds. A bird rescuer in Vacaville reported that approximately 300 ducks intended for sanctuaries were instead handed over to a livestock business. The ducks were listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace at $15 each within one hour of the transfer. The rescuer, Berkowitz, expressed devastation over the incident.
