Montgomery County Grants Support Teacher Licensure
The Montgomery County Public School System has received a $6 million state grant to train staff members to become fully certified teachers. The funding will enable partnerships with universities and local associations to create new educational pathways. Montgomery County Public Schools aims to have 200 newly licensed candidates filling classroom vacancies. Margie López Muzazzos, director of professional learning, stated that grants will cover the costs of classes and books. The program allows candidates to complete coursework during the week to avoid sacrificing nights and weekends. The county hopes to have 80 candidates enrolled by the fall.
