Elderly Care Village Attracts Tourists

Jika Yi village in Sichuan Province's Ganzi Prefecture has been recognized as one of the best tourist villages by the United Nations World Tourism Organization. The village, situated between 1700 and 5000 meters in altitude, is home to 92 Tibetan households. The recognition aims to boost local entrepreneurship and preserve cultural heritage while accommodating visitors. The recognition occurred in October 2025. The recognition highlights the village's unique cultural characteristics and its potential for tourism development. Jieka Village, located in Danba County, Garze Prefecture, Sichuan Province, has been recognized as one of the latest batch of Best Tourism Villages by the UN World Tourism Organization. Local entrepreneur Sangdan is among many young people investing in the village's development, with new restaurants and kitchens being built to accommodate visitors. The area features ancient sites over a thousand years old where residents continue to live and work, maintaining a strong sense of community and integrating culture with nature. Young entrepreneurs like Sangdan and Ram have established businesses including a coffee shop, cultural and creative products, and a museum within the village. The village in Jiaohe integrates traditional architecture with natural geography. A 24-year-old graduate from Chengdu College of Arts and Sciences is currently operating a local cafe.
