Baby Born On Delta Flight To Portland
A passenger on a Delta Airlines Boeing 737 flight from Atlanta gave birth to a 5.5-pound girl mid-flight. The birth occurred just before the aircraft landed at Portland International Airport in Oregon on Friday night. Two paramedics traveling as passengers assisted with the delivery using blankets and shears from other passengers. The infant is reported to be healthy. Crew members used shoelaces as makeshift tourniquets to secure a catheter and tie the umbilical cord. Rescuers held the infant once the aircraft wheels touched the runway. A baby girl named Brielle was born on a plane as it touched down at Portland International Airport. The infant weighed 2.5 kg and measured 47 cm at birth. Flight attendants secured the child and the mother during taxiing to the terminal. Both mother and child were transported to a hospital where doctors confirmed they are in good health.
