Over 1,300 Displaced In Blue Nile State
More than 100,000 displaced persons are reported in Blue Nile State in the southeastern part of the country. The Sudan Doctors Network warned of an imminent catastrophe as military conflict intersects with a near-total collapse of health and social infrastructure. The situation is expected to worsen with the approaching heavy rainy season. The risk to these populations is increasing as the rainy season nears. Approaching heavy rain seasons threaten to displace more than 100,000 people. Millions of children have reached critical levels of hunger and violence. International organizations have documented thousands of cases of sexual violence being used as a weapon. The situation is described as reminiscent of the worst chapters of Sudanese history. Schools and hospitals are being destroyed amid the ongoing conflict.
