Global Survey Finds Widespread Lack Of Work Meaning

A study by authors Martyna Bunda and Ewa Wilk of the Galupa Institute indicates nearly 70 percent of surveyed employees across 73 countries find no meaning in their work. The findings indicate that the sense of meaning is lowest among Generation Z, specifically those born between 1995 and 2010. Respondents aged 50 found the most meaning in their roles. The study also noted that Polish workers record some of the highest weekly working hours in Europe. The research indicates that respondents aged 50 to 93 are the most likely to report this sentiment. The 2025 Mason & Partners research also notes that while Europeans work some of the longest weekly hours, only 14.5% of employees report engagement with their company's life and professional matters. The Czech Republic ranked one percentage point lower than Poland in these metrics. The analysis includes concerns regarding a weak labor scenario that has persisted for an extended period. Researcher Carmen Cifuentes from Clape Suce noted that the situation is particularly concerning for women. The ministry is addressing the need for labor recovery. In Poland, the trend is similar, with only one in three workers finding purpose in their jobs. The study noted that meaning is most prevalent among older demographics, specifically 93% of those in the 50-plus age group.
