Egyptian Court Sentences Two In Child Custody Case
The woman, Nancy Guerra, appealed to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for assistance. She stated her ex-husband imposed travel restrictions on the child until she reaches the age of 21. Guerra alleged she fled the home due to continuous physical and psychological violence. The decision was finalized on April 22 after a woman named Karen filed a criminal complaint regarding the non-compliance of a court order to recover a child named Adam. Two searches were conducted to locate the child but were unsuccessful. According to the defense in Egypt, the ruling authorizes Egyptian police to arrest the father and grandmother if they are located. The two individuals refused to hand the child over to his mother, Brazilian national Karen Raquel Aranha-Toledo. The ruling follows a dispute regarding the child's custody.
