Guangdong Expects High Traffic During Holiday

Guangdong Province expects high highway traffic volumes during the upcoming May Day holiday period. The Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation is coordinating with the Public Security Department's Traffic Management Bureau to ensure road safety and smooth operations. Officials noted that travel demand is expected to return to normal levels during the period. Measures will be implemented on highways in cities including Shenzhen, Yangjiang, Qingyuan, Heyuan, Yunfu, Zhongshan, and Shaoguan. Officials plan to conduct early assessments and deploy resources to manage weekend traffic flows. Guangdong authorities have increased the number of tidal lanes to manage May Day holiday traffic from 19 to 24 points. The expansion from the previously announced 19 points includes additional locations for vehicles leaving the province. Measures will be implemented on key highway sections, including the Sola and Xinbo routes. The Zhaoqing Municipal Public Security Bureau conducted drills for 'three tide-crossings and one control' measures on the Jiwu-Guang Expressway. These efforts aim to ensure full-chain governance during the high-traffic period. These plans address potential disruptions caused by heavy rain, fog, or other weather-related incidents. Guangdong transportation authorities expect approximately 25,000 vehicle trips per day across the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge during the May Day holiday.
