Steam Eye Mask Failure Rate Reaches 56.7%

China Construction Bank has been fined over 43.5 million yuan for failing to fulfill customer identity verification obligations. A State Administration for Market Regulation inspection of 60 batches of steam eye mask products found 34 batches failed to meet temperature standards. The failure rate was 56.7%. Over 30% of products reached peak temperatures between 50 and 60 degrees Celsius and exceeded safe heating durations. These defects increase risks of both low-temperature and high-temperature burns. New industry standards effective in 2025 mandate a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius. The product design features rapid heating from a low point to a peak, but does not maintain a constant temperature. Experts warn that steam eye masks can cause low-temperature burns due to rapid temperature fluctuations. Guo Wei has established standardized first aid procedures to mitigate risks of secondary injuries from incorrect handling. Medical experts warned against using folk remedies like toothpaste or soy sauce for burns, noting they cause infection and hinder diagnosis.
