President Subianto Visits Jakarta Train Crash Survivors
A three-member court in Larissa terminated its investigation into the Tempi train collision on May 27. The crash involved a long-distance train striking another train. Witnesses stated the event happened within seconds. One survivor reported that conditions were difficult to breathe during the incident. A correspondent in Jakarta reported that the train system is highly efficient and fast, but remains extremely packed during rush hours until approximately 10 p.m. The female-only carriages are frequently full of passengers, many of whom are traveling with babies. The carriage involved contained female passengers, elderly individuals, and infants. Dozens of others were injured when a suburban train struck a long-distance train. President Prabowo Subianto has ordered an immediate investigation.
