Bogotá Water Service Suspension For Valve Installation

Water service will be suspended in several localities of Bogotá within the next 36 hours. According to the local aqueduct, the suspension is necessary to install an anti-seismic valve in the Santa Ana tank in Usaquén. The outage is expected to last until the following morning. Water services will be suspended in several Bogotá neighborhoods starting Friday due to infrastructure work by the Bogotá Water and Sewerage Company. Workers will install a large anti-seismic valve at the Santa Ana tank in Usaquén to prevent damage during seismic movements. The company stated the installation is a preventative measure for water conduction safety. Supply is expected to be restored during the early morning or morning of Friday, May 1. Residents are advised to check the aqueduct's website for affected neighborhoods. Manager Natacha Ventaño confirmed that water service in Bogotá may begin to be restored by midday on Friday, May 1. Approximately 100 neighborhoods are currently affected by the service disruption. Authorities have deployed a system of water tank trucks to provide service to these areas. Ventaño stated that the current water quality does not pose a risk to health or potability despite turbidity.
