Austria Transitions To Digital Toll Vignettes

Ö1 Vienna 14d14d Impact 5
Austria is phasing out the classic adhesive toll vignette, with a final abolition scheduled for 2027. The transition to digital vignettes is currently underway. ASFINAG invested 1.6 billion euros into Austrian motorways and expressways last year, focusing on maintenance and traffic safety. Toll and vignette revenues are seeing increases. Of the 29 million euros in vignettes sold last year, 18 million euros were distributed digitally. Digital sales currently account for nearly 80 percent of annual vignettes. The company plans to add up to 20 additional automated machines by early 2027.
