White House Defends Security After Allen Incident
A gunman was tackled after running through a security checkpoint toward stairs leading to a ballroom. The combined charges could result in a life prison sentence. Unsealed documents released yesterday shed light on his motive. In the email, the suspect laid out his reasoning and stated he did not want to be represented by someone he called a "pedophile, rapist and traitor." The suspect identified administration officials as his targets. He allegedly traveled from California to Chicago and then to Washington D.C. via Amtrak with at least two guns. The Secret Service defended its actions during a DOJ press conference, stating that Cole Allen was stopped a floor above the ballroom with hundreds of federal agents between him and the President. Officials asserted that the system worked and law enforcement did not fail.
