Three Die On Hondius Ship From Rat-Borne Virus
14 Spanish passengers from the Red Sea 4 cruise ship are expected to be transferred by military plane to Madrid. Passengers on the Hantavirus-infected cruise ship will be brought to dry land in sealed conditions. The Italian Health Ministry has activated a monitoring procedure for four passengers. This action follows their contact with a woman who was infected with the 'Johannesburg virus' and subsequently died from the flu. These passengers will be sent to France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, and the Netherlands. The Hantavirus-infected cruise ship, identified as the Ondius, is reported to be hours away from arriving in Tenerife, Canary Islands. One passenger from the Hantavirus cruise ship refused testing, citing no family in Portugal. Approximately 100 people were collected by boats through the port.
