Romania Intercepts Cigarette and Pesticide Smuggling Ring
The prosecutor of Perpignan announced that seven people have been placed under formal investigation for operating a cigarette smuggling ring between Andorra and France. Four of the suspects have been placed in pre-trial detention. The operation involved the use of migrants to facilitate the trafficking. Romanian border police and customs agents have dismantled a smuggling network involved in contraband cigarettes and pesticides originating from Ukraine. The operation targeted illegal cross-border trade.
