German Transport Ministry Launches Railway Safety Campaign
German rail companies, politicians, and unions launched a respect campaign following a fatal attack on a train conductor in February. Deutsche Bahn and the Ministry of Transport are splitting the costs of the campaign, which total over one million euros. Approximately 2,000 rail employees are now using bodycams, according to Deutsche Bahn chief Eveline Paller. The initiative aims to address a reported 11 percent increase in violence against rail employees. Further steps are expected to be implemented in the second half of the year. The German Federal Ministry of Transport launched a safety campaign featuring posters in train stations and on trains. The Federal Police reported approximately 170,000 criminal offenses. Germany's Transport Ministry has launched a new safety campaign for its railway system.
