Four Crew Members Injured In Marine Incident
Two crew members, one British and one Dutch, require urgent medical attention while in the Atlantic Ocean. The cruise operator Ocean Wide Expedition stated in a communiqué that the passengers were not authorized to disembark. The company is considering heading toward the Canary Islands, approximately 1,500 km from Cape Verde. The operator noted that Las Palmas or Tenerife could serve as entry points for medical assistance. Five French nationals are listed among the passengers on board. The government expects it will take several days to arrange a tugboat to move the vessel and complete a cause analysis. The ship is expected to depart from the Green Coast within hours, heading for either the Canary Islands or the Netherlands. World Health Organization spokesperson Anne Lindstrand is communicating with the Health Department regarding the situation.
