Moscow Heating Season Ends In May

The Moscow City Economy Complex announced that heating shutdowns will begin in Moscow this Wednesday. Communal services in Moscow will begin turning off heating on Wednesday. In the Moscow region, services are transitioning to summer mode starting today. This follows a period of 25-degree heat in the capital region. Temperatures in Moscow are expected to return to May norms by the weekend, with daytime highs around 15 degrees and nighttime lows around 10 degrees. Heating has been disconnected in several Moscow districts starting Wednesday, May 6. Affected areas include buildings on Vernadsky Prospekt, Dubninskaya Street, and Akademika Chelomeya Street. The shutdown also covers the Solntsevo, Biskupsky, and Krylatskoye districts, according to TASS. Moscow municipal authorities confirmed that the heating season in the Moscow region ended one day early on May 5. Full cessation of heat supply to residential buildings is expected by December 12. Moscow Energy Minister Sergey Varapan stated that with current air temperatures up to 20 degrees, the system will operate in a conservation mode to allow for rapid response if necessary. More than 74,000 buildings, including schools, kindergartens, and medical facilities, are affected by the seasonal transition.
