Colombia Venezuela Border Bridge Closed For Rehabilitation
The Venezuelan government announced the total closure of the Francisco de Paula Santander international bridge for 15 days. The bridge connects Cúcuta, Colombia, with Pedro María Ureña, Venezuela. The closure follows an explosion that caused ash emissions and triggered an orange alert. Winds dispersed ash toward the districts of Yuta, Guambo, Caban, Conde, and Tapay, according to the National Emergency Operations Center of Indeci. Pedestrians and vehicles must use either the Simón Bolívar bridge or the Tienditas bridge instead. The Venezuelan Ministry of Transport issued a statement detailing the measure, which became effective on Sunday. The closure follows a technical inspection prompted by residues in the Táchira River.
