Thailand Discusses Southern Coast Infrastructure To Bypass Malacca Strait

A new shipping route connecting Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar is being developed to facilitate faster and more cost-effective cargo delivery. The Guangzhou Airport, set to open on April 27th, is expected to stimulate local government initiatives to maximize its benefits and create development space, increasing revenue from passengers and tourism. The Malacca Strait is identified as the world's most passage, facing increasing tightness and limitations. A discussion highlighted the Malacca Strait's status as the world's most channel, noting potential tightening and restrictions. A project, referred to as SE and similar to Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), is being proposed to create an alternative shipping route. This new corridor is expected to save shipping routes and reduce travel distances for vessels.
