Roma Activists Discuss Historical Discrimination and Fight Against Racism
Roma activists and journalists are highlighting historical discrimination against the Roma people, including forced assimilation in medieval Spain and centuries of slavery in Romania. During World War II, the Nazi regime is estimated to have killed between 200,000 and 500,000 Roma. Activist Gil Danenți Gorvat and lawyer Julian Condur shared personal experiences of facing prejudice and spoke about their ongoing fight against racism and for Roma rights.
