New Fanning Bypass Opens In Hong Kong
The 4-kilometer eastern section of the Fanning Bypass opened this morning as part of the Northern Metropolis development. The roadway connects the edge of Tai Po on Fanning Highway to a new town in Fanling North. Officials stated the new route can save commuters approximately 10 minutes during peak hours. A 4-kilometer section of the Fanling Highway East has opened to traffic as of 8:00 AM today. The Northern Link's Fanling to Lam Tei section opened to traffic at 8:00 AM today. The North District's first major transport project, the Fanling to Lam Duong East section of the North District Highway, opened at 8:00 AM. Reporters tested the new route, comparing it to the old one for travel time between Fanling and Tai Po. Drivers reported the new road is convenient but noted some unevenness and ongoing engineering work on the bends.
