Emergency Shelters Overcrowded, Lacking Privacy
Bogota officials stated the city has no more available land to provide new shelters for displaced populations. Authorities noted that current efforts to provide aid are complicated by government requirements. One shelter has been occupied since Monday, preventing institutional access and leading to reported aggressions. Schools and public buildings have been quickly converted into emergency shelters, but they are now overcrowded with little privacy. Tents have been erected in schoolyards to house more people. Many families initially used blankets or improvised partitions to create some privacy.
