World War II Bomb Forces Plymouth Evacuations

breaking LBC London Plymouth 11d11d Impact 5
More than 1,000 homes in Plymouth have been evacuated following the discovery of a World War II bomb at a building site. Authorities plan to destroy the unexploded ordnance via a controlled explosion today. The evacuation was implemented as a safety precaution during the disposal process. A 400-meter exclusion zone has been established around the site. Colonel Nick Handy of 8 Engineer Brigade stated the 80-year-old bomb cannot be moved because its fuses cannot be fully assessed. Authorities in Devon announced that a 250 kilo World War II bomb discovered at a building site must be detonated in situ. The discovery has prompted emergency response measures in the area. The device weighs 250 kilograms and cannot be moved from its location.
